Quietly operating at the edge of what is knowable

Survey. Systems. Human intelligence in the loop.

Kahua DC designs survey platforms, runs global research, and develops indigenous-led AI systems. The work is serious, discreet, and not intended for everyone.

We specialise in Pacific research and indigenous AI development, building tools that see further without losing sight of people.

What we are willing to say

Some of our work is public. Some is not. All of it is grounded in ethics, cultural intelligence, and technical rigor.

What we do (in public)

Surface-level description of deeper work

At a glance: we design survey platforms, conduct global research programmes, and build indigenous-aligned AI systems for organisations that need more than generic tools. The specifics are discussed under NDA.

Survey platform

Infrastructure for difficult questions

We design and operate survey platforms for complex environments: multi-country, multi-language, and high-stakes. Built for reliability, data security, and cultural nuance across the Pacific and beyond.

If your questions are straightforward, off-the-shelf tools may be enough. If they are not, that is where we begin.

Global research · Pacific depth

Work rooted in place

We conduct fieldwork and remote research globally, with a particular specialisation in the Pacific. Our practice is relationship-driven, culturally informed, and designed to stand up in policy, strategy, and governance conversations.

Community, government, and private sector projects. Some are cited. Some only exist in internal briefings.

Indigenous AI

Systems that remember where they stand

We develop AI approaches that centre indigenous knowledge, ethics, and context: human-led, culturally aligned, and intentionally constrained.

The aim is not artificial minds that replace people, but tools that know they answer to human insight.

AI × human insight

There are patterns only machines can see at scale. There are meanings only people can read in context. Our work lives in the tension between the two.

  • We use AI to sense, not to decide: anomaly detection, signal extraction, and pattern surfacing across large volumes of survey and qualitative data.
  • Human experts—grounded in Pacific and indigenous perspectives—interpret what the systems surface, deciding what matters and what should not be acted on.
  • Guardrails are designed from the start: data governance, cultural protocols, and ethical constraints are built into every engagement.
What we will say here

We do not sell generic AI products. We build tightly-scoped systems for specific organisations, in specific places, under clear human authority.

If that sounds vague, it is intentional. The real work starts when we understand what you are trying to protect, measure, or change.

Invitation

If you are curious enough to ask

We work with organisations that are serious about evidence, ethics, and the communities they affect. If you are looking for a brochure, this is it. If you are looking for a partner, the next step is a conversation.

If you are curious enough to start the adventure, tell us who you are and what brought you here.

We review each enquiry individually. Not every project will be the right fit—and that is by design.

For compliance: Kahua DC is an independent research and technology consultancy specialising in survey platforms, global and Pacific research, and indigenous AI development. We do not publish client details without consent.
